51s Host Eight-Game Homestand From April 17-24

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will open their 27th "home" season in the Silver State on Friday, April 17 against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field.

The opening homestand will consist of eight games against Colorado Springs (April 17-20) and the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, from Tuesday-Friday, April 21-24, all games at 7:05 p.m.

The 51s, under manager Mike Basso, are currently on a season-opening seven-game road trip. Las Vegas is 0-4 and the trip will conclude on Thursday in Salt Lake City, Utah against the Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The home opener will help launch Las Vegas' first season as the top affiliate of the Blue Jays. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in Southern Nevada.

Fleece Blanket Night, to the first 2,500 fans in attendance, will be presented on opening night (Friday) at 7:05 p.m.

The traditional fireworks shows return to the ballpark on Saturday, April 18 at 7:05 p.m., with a spectacular post-game show scheduled. Nevada Federal Credit Union will sponsor opening weekend and fans entering the stadium will receive free 2009 51s Magnetic Schedules during opening weekend.

Game three of the series on Sunday will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m. Little League Day will be featured with selected 51s players signing autographs for little league players from 10:15 to 11 a.m. in the Club Level Restaurant.

The finale of the four-game series against the Sky Sox is Monday at 7:05 p.m. Monday night games in 2009 will feature "Value Menu" as the 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

The 51s will then host Fresno in a four-game series from Tuesday-Friday. The opener of the series will feature "Blue Jays Tuesdays." Every Tuesday game during the '09 season will have a Canadian theme in conjunction with the affiliation with the Blue Jays.

Beer specials will be featured in the new "Skyy Bar" located adjacent to the Club Level Restaurant on the third base side. A $5.00 general admission ticket will be available at the box office for all fans wearing 51s gear, Blue Jays gear or hockey jerseys.

Every Thursday home game throughout the 2009 season will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night. The first beer night will be on Thursday, April 23. Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

The 51s, in conjunction with radio partner Lotus Broadcasting, are proud to announce that KOMP 92.3 FM will help promote all Budweiser Dollar Beer Nights and KXPT 97.1 FM will help promote all the fireworks shows during the 2009 campaign.

The finale of the eight-game homestand on Friday, April 24 will feature Toronto Blue Jays Cap Night, to the first 2,500 fans in attendance.

The 51s are once again broadcasting all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at LV51.com via SportsJuice.com. Russ Langer is in his 10th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

"It's a great situation for us to be on FOX Sports Radio and also to be involved with the other stations (ESPN 1100 AM, KOMP 92.3 FM, 97.1 KXPT FM) at Lotus."

Following the eight-game homestand, Las Vegas will travel to Sacramento, Calif., for a brief four-game road trip. Las Vegas will face the defending Triple-A and PCL champions, River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, from Saturday-Tuesday, April 25-28.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug, Ritmo Latino and Macy's, located at The Fashion Show & The Galleria Mall.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $9.00 (general admission), $10.00 (reserved), $12.00 ,(plaza) and $14 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows on July 2 & 3 (all seats at $14.00).
